error code 80070017

I got this error code ( 80070017 ) while installing windows, at around 85 % copy files any one know what this is

Which method are you using for installation? From DVD, Virtual Drive? Have you tried extracting the contents of the ISO and launch setup from within XP and select Custom when the option is made available and install Vista on the partition you dedicated for Vista? Also, Vista cannot install on external drives. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Hey.. I am installing right off the dvd at boot up, I got the right driver for it to detect my drives and everything was good and up popped this error 80070017 Is there another better way to install? and do you think it would be better to format the drives first?

Make sure the target drive is formatted as NTFS. I would extract the contents of the ISO to a folder in XP and launch setup from there and see if it works. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

I had the same problem. I used Daemon Tools 4 to mount the image and run it from XP. That worked fine. Not all of the drivers are quite there for this build, so that is probably the problem when running it from some DVD equipment.

looks like vista can not write to SCSI HD. (clean install from DVD) Any suggestions?

Never mind. I did an other DVD with slower speed. Up and running and sending out of Vista. (What a disapointment Vista is)

Disappointment in what way? Its still early and we are nowhere close to RTM? Also, you have opportunity make an impact using the Feedback link on your Windows Vista desktop. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

As an old dude in Windows Beta Testing.... No FEEDBACK I (we) ever send was taken 100% over by Microsoft. But times might have changed. What get's me is the 'IMPOSSIBILITY' to change BACK to what you are used to. If you can not see those things, you panic.
